Record narration

🎙New

Talk through a problem while you draw it. Start a show, tap Record on the presenter bar and narrate as you work — your voice and your ink are captured on one clock, so the replay plays them back perfectly in step. A long explanation? Pause whenever the room goes quiet or you need to think — the pause is a hard hold (drawing freezes, the silence is cut from the lesson), then Resume to carry on. Finish when you're done.

Find itPresentation → Narrate the lesson. Slate asks for the microphone first, then goes full screen and starts recording — that order matters, because a permission prompt drops full screen and would otherwise end the show before it began. Record on the presenter bar does the same once you are already presenting.
Use itA narration belongs to the whole lesson, not to one board. Talk, draw, turn the page, come back to a board you were on earlier, Hold when you need a moment and carry on — the microphone runs through all of it and the take is one continuous piece. Slate remembers which board you were on at every moment, so the replay follows you. Hold and Finish the narration sit in the Presentation menu as well as on the bar, with a line under them saying how long the take is and how much of the deck it has covered. Recording again over an existing narration asks first, and a lesson narration replaces any older single-board takes. Fix a mistake mid-explanation and it replays in order — the wrong mark, the erase, the correction — all in time with what you're saying.
Erase and try againFluffed the last minute? Erase offers two scopes: back to the last pause, which drops just that stretch — even where it ran across a page turn — and lets you carry on, or the whole board, which clears the take and starts the lesson again. Both keep recording — you do not have to stop and set up afresh.
Saved with the fileThe narration embeds in the .slate, so it travels with the lesson — share the file and the voice comes too. Recorded boards play with sound in the player, where you can Export video — a real-time recording of the replay with your narration, ready to upload to YouTube. Beats act as chapters.
