Hand the pen over when someone should show their thinking, correct a step, or annotate your diagram. Their strokes stream onto your board as they draw, and out to everyone else.
Use itTap the ✏️ beside a name to let just that person draw — everyone else stays view-only. Tap Let everyone annotate to open it up to the whole group at once; anyone joining later is included automatically.
Writing areasTo stop students scribbling all over the board, give each one a box to write in. In Collab, tap ▭ beside a student’s name, then drag a box on the board: that student can now write inside it and nowhere else, on that board only. Give several students a box each — they can all write at once, each in their own (the plain ✏️ still passes one pen around). You see every box outlined with its student’s name; a student sees only theirs, marked Your area, with the rest of the board dimmed. A press outside does nothing, and a line drawn past the edge stays inside it. Your own work is safe: a student can rub out only their own marks, and anything that tries to change your work or land outside the box is refused by your Slate and put back on their screen. More than one box: tap ▭ again and drag another — one for each question. A student keeps every box you give them (up to 12), on this board or on others; the ▭ button shows how many, you see them numbered (Priya 1, Priya 2) and the student sees Your area 1, Your area 2. A line belongs to the box it starts in and stays inside that one. On a board where a student has no box, they pause; come back and their boxes there work again. A student who reloads and rejoins gets their boxes back. Tap ✏️ beside their name to take all their boxes away; ending the session clears them all.
Heads-upTheir marks become part of your board, so they save, replay and export exactly like your own.
