Working a big problem — a long multiplication, a multi-step equation — fills the board with scaffolding you only need for a moment. Turn on Fades and write your working: it stays put while Fades is on, so nothing disappears mid-thought. When you switch Fades off, each section holds briefly, then clears — leaving the board tidy for the next step.
Find itWith Pen, Pencil or Highlighter active, the Fades toggle appears in the style bar, with a − seconds + hold control beside it.
Use itPick a hold (3–30s), turn on Fades and write. A soft card outlines each section and marks it stays. When you're done, turn Fades off — the sections hold for your chosen time, then fade away.
Saved & replayedFading sets are part of the lesson: a saved .slate remembers them, and the player replays each section being written, holding, then fading once the whole section is down.
